DRIVER & TRAINING
Are you new to driving a School Bus and want to learn how? AVSTA holds classes several times a year to teach you all you need to know about driving a School Bus and how to secure a job with us, transporting the most important people in the world, our children. AVSTA offers paid School Bus driver training.
Qualifications for training and employment include:

You must be 18 years of age.

Have not been convicted of a felony.

Have a good driving record.
What to expect:

Please go to the Department of Motor Vehicles and obtain a copy of the California Class C Handbook and a K-4 DMV Report. It is very important that you study the Handbook before coming to Orientation.

Bring Paper and Pencil.

Bring your Drivers License
Successful applicants will begin a 2 (two) week classroom training at no cost. This course is designed to provide the applicant with a Commercial Drivers License Class B with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement, a Special Certificate (DL-45 Certificate, which allows one to drive a School Bus), a DOT Medical Card, and First Aid Card. The Commercial Handbook is used in this class. Behind the wheel, classes will be scheduled on an individual basis. We train on Type I and Type II Buses. Upon completion, you will have the skills and will have met the requirements for School Bus Driving. A new class will be announced soon, turn in your application as soon as possible.
All Applicants for all positions are required to submit a K4 DMV Printout with each completed application (3 Year driving record report) to the Administrative Assistant at the AVSTA office between 8:00 AM & 4:00 PM.
