The SMART-Tag system helps increase safety and security for students riding on a school bus, leveraging technology to improve student management and communications on school buses.
SMART-Tag monitors student loading and unloading, providing real-time information to the Transportation Department and you, the parent.
SMART-Tag Parent Portal provides alerts to parents via email or text when your child is 10 – 15 minutes from their stop.
Introduction Letter & Instructions:
Westside Union School District:
Westside School Districts’ first time passes and all replacement passes will be provided free of charge. See a school administrator to order a SMART-Tag pass. After the order has been processed, students will receive their new SMART-Tag pass from their school bus driver.
Lancaster School District:
Students will receive first-time passes and replacement pass free of charge. After an order has been processed, students will receive their new or replacement SMART-Tag pass from their school bus driver. Order from the AVSTA website, or the Welcome and Wellness Center, 44226 10th St. West; Lancaster; CA; 93534 or in person at 670 West Ave. L-8; Lancaster; Ca; 93534.
Antelope Valley Union High School District:
High School students are required to pay a $200.00 per year or $100.00 per semester bus pass fee unless qualified for the free reduced lunch program. A qualification letter is required each school year. A $5.00 fee will be charged for each replacement pass and must be picked up at AVSTA; 670 West Avenue L-8; Lancaster. A replacement pass may be ordered in person or from the Bus rider or Smart-Tag Portal.
All Special Needs Students will receive their SMART-Tag pass at no charge, including replacement passes.
To order in person, come to the AVSTA office; 670 West Avenue L-8, Lancaster. This service is available to Lancaster School District and high school students only.
INCOMPLETE ORDERS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.

SMART-Tag It is the goal of the Agency to have all bus riders utilizing the system. The system has been developed to help us eliminate certain types of communication breakdowns. The parent portal has been redesigned and is now available for parents or guardians. Please register on the SMART-Tag Portal.
